Rembang, September 27th, 2024 – PT Semen Gresik as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) again won three prestigious titles in the Good Mining Practice (GMP) Award 2024 from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (25/9/2024).

Three awards were obtained, namely the Primary Achievement Award for Technical Management of Mineral and Coal Mining, the Primary Achievement Award for Mineral and Coal Conservation Management, and the Primary Achievement Award for Environmental Management of Mineral and Coal Mining.

President Director of PT Semen Gresik, Muchamad Supriyadi, said that this appreciation emphasizes that the company has been consistent and more mature in implementing the best mining practices in accordance with government regulations.

“Since the beginning of its operation, PT Semen Gresik has implemented good mining practices. So, it is indeed part of PT Semen Gresik's vision, which is to become a pioneer in the cement industry in creating sustainable value through the acceleration of environmentally friendly technology,” said Supriyadi.

Supriyadi gave his highest appreciation to the entire team and employees for the efforts that have been made. “The company's commitment is to continue to maintain standards of responsible mining practices, be environmentally friendly, involve and support the surrounding community, and contribute positively to regional development,” he explained.

In addition to superior and environmentally friendly operational management practices, PT Semen Gresik has also consistently implemented community empowerment programs (PPM) around the company in various programs. Starting from the environmental field through the Edupark & Integrated Livestock Plantation Agriculture (P4T) program, the field of infrastructure development in 6 villages around the company through the Madani Community Forum (FMM) program, the agricultural field by forming Semen Gresik Sahabat Petani (SGSP), the art field through Semen Gresik Sahabat Seni (SGSS), to the MSME Empowerment program Upgrade through Rumah BUMN Rembang.

Meanwhile, when opening the GMP Award 2024 in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/9), Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized the importance of strengthening the application of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the mineral and coal mining subsector for business sustainability and increasing competitiveness. Providing awareness that environmental management is one of the fundamental aspects needed in the energy and environmentally friendly transition period.

Bahlil also highlighted the importance of post-mining management that is oriented towards the interests of the community. “A comprehensive post-mining program is needed that takes into account economic, socio-cultural, and environmental aspects, so that life and prosperity will still be created after mining activities end,” he concluded.
